A Word From Dr. Bob
Welcome to our community of faith, Emerywood Baptist Church! We are delighted that you decided to visit our website and offer you an invitiation to visit us for a worship service. You will notice on the upper left of our web page a reproduction of the windows in our sanctuary. As the windows on our logo suggest we strive to be a community of openness: open arms, open hearts, and open minds. Not only can we look out on the world, the world can look in on us.
As followers of Jesus Christ we are on a journey of faith and welcome all who would like to join us in that journey. We combine a deep belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior with the understanding that such faith cannot be coerced or dictated, but must come from a heart that has been touched by the grace and love of our Lord.
Emerywood has been described as a “thinking person’s church.” Here you can ask questions and discuss the tenets of the Christian faith without repercussion or embarrassment. We subscribe to no creed but Holy Scripture and allow each person the freedom to interpret Scripture as they feel led by the Holy Spirit. This freedom is what characterized the early “baptists” and is what we believe characterizes true baptists today. We invite you to download and read a recent sermon in PDF format, to see for yourself how Emerywood helps to guides one's spiritual journey.
At Emerywood we emphasize sharing in deed as much as word. We are a people of work just a much as we are a people of the word. Through our local mission efforts, Project Cornerstone, and mission trips as well as financial and prayer support of mission projects around the world we are trying to be the people of God who are known as much by what we do as by what we say. If you visit our Mission Page you will find out more about all that we are doing.
We encourage you to visit with us, to ask questions, and to learn more about both our Lord and our community of faith. If we can assist you in any way please do not hesitate to call or ask. May the love of Jesus Christ be yours, both today and for the rest of your life.
